Sketch Class Day 17

Yesterday’s poses were held for 13, 12, 10, 8 and 5 minutes. We had my favourite model (see Sketch Class Day 16 and 2 ) posing for us again so I really enjoyed the session 🙂

  1. I’d love to know more about how you make these sketches (and your beautiful portraiture, too.) There are so few visible lines–Do you start with just a pencil outline and then go at it with wash? Love your work.

Hey Suzy, Thank you for your comment! I first do the contour drawing using a pencil and then I immediately start painting. These sketch class poses are really quite short and leave me very little time for the drawing (or thinking). Whenever I paint from photographs or when there is a longer pose I really like to take my time with the drawing.
