As per usual Ewa, a fine effort. You really get your figures on the paper with minimal effort. I did see a comment somewhere saying your work was a little like Charles Reid. Don’t agree. You have your lovely distinct work. Only similarity is you are both drawing the figure.

Thank you for commenting Ray! I’m always happy to hear from you. The sketch class is quite a challenge for me. I am still trying to figure out how much I can do in such a short time. The longest pose is always held for 13 minutes… That leaves me very little time for the pencil drawing. Everything I know about watercolour, I have learnt from Charles Reid. Of course my sketches look nothing like Mr. Reid’s but I like his idea of making an interesting composition using these different poses. I would like to learn how to create an illusion that there were many models posing at the same time rather than just end up with some separate sketches of one model. I love the fact that a sketchbook can tell a story that never actually took place.

      1. I think you have to be patient Ewa. From the latest book of Charles you can see he adds figures at a later date. If the model is at the same distance of the previous one then the proportions should be the same. As the model stands in the same spot usually then I struggle to put a couple together. Once did 3 together as the model just turned for each pose and I painted one behind, and one beside the other. In the end we are not Charles and that’s why his work is so wonderful. He painted me into the foreground of a street scene, it proudly hangs in our dining room. Kind regards. Ray

Thanks Ray! You are so lucky! I get messages from people who have attended or are going to attend Mr. Reid’s workshops very often and I am always super jealous 🙂 I will probably never get to meet him in person! The latest Sketchbook book is what made me finally join the sketch class. I’m sure it will take ages for me to improve but I am very motivated and will work hard on my sketchbooks! I’ve just visited your facebook page and your figures are lovely!
