Miss Reichl
Charles Reid is my favourite watercolour painter and I’ve been trying to learn from his books for some time now. I wish I could participate in one of his workshops someday! It would be lovely to watch him paint and get to know him…
In his past workshops I’ve read about, he encouraged his students to paint from black and white photographs. I really liked this idea so I will try to do some more watercolour sketches like this in the next couple of days.
For my first sketch I used one of the beautiful photographs by Mucha, taken in his studio – Miss Reichl (Max Reinhardt’s Company’s leading actress) posing for ‘Tragedy’, a German Theatre mural.
Pencil line and watercolour in Stillman & Birn’s Beta series sketchbook.

Water Lily…
Hello everyone!
Here is a sketch I’ve done today waiting for feedback while working… I’ve had to work on some digital illustrations lately and I really miss traditional media. If I had a choice I’d only use watercolors, sable brushes, pencils , fountain pens, inks and some lovely paper in all my illustrations…. Sadly, many artists are forced to work digitally these days… Damn you photoshop!
Well, for this sketch I used my fountain pen, Waterman Purple ink and lots of water! The paper is still my Epsilon sketchbook.
Have a lovely weekend
Love,
Ewa
